John Denver was a superstar performer who influenced millions of people by his popular-folk hits, many of which were based in Colorado. Henry John Deutschendorf Jr., born Henry John Deutschendorf from Roswell in New Mexico fell in love with Colorado. He moved to Aspen. Denver's popular songs about his adopted state brought many people to Colorado. G. Brown of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame states the fact that John Denver is unlike any other musician who represents Colorado. Denver was the first Hall of Fame ever inductee. Denver is the symbol of Colorado to many around the world. In my travels I've had the pleasure of meeting people from New Zealand or the other side. If you inform that you're from Colorado the first words they say are Oh John Denver. Brown declared. Take Me Home Country Roads was co-written by Bill Danoff and Denver after his brief career with folk bands and was his debut Top 10 solo hit. Danoff wrote the song along with Johnny Cash in mind but the moment Denver was introduced to an earlier version it was clear that the song could be the next hit single. After performing to an excited audience on the streets of Washington D.C., the artist recorded the song.
